Breaking the Ice. How did you find CrossCode?

by RadicalDude » Sun Jan 18, 2015 11:56 pm

To get things rolling with the forums we thought of just starting a little topic about a question which might be interesting to all of us!

How did you find CrossCode?

For me it was a warm summer evening. I was sitting on the porch, watching a kitten playing with a tiny butterfly. Not a thing in the world could steal this day from me, or so I thought. I heard a loud noise coming from the is wretched devices. You can only navigate it with your fingers. Oh, what happened to the good old buttons? I miss them. It's was Lachsen! "Lachsen" I mumbled gnarly... The moment I heard his voice I knew he was up to no good. It was this very day he told me about this new idea for a game. Spherical he called it. "You can throw balls, and the bounce off the walls. It's amazing". I couldn't escaped. His malicious speech had me bound to the phone. Like in a dream my mouth moved and I said: "Sounds swell, let's do it!". My soul left my body and went through the device. I knew I could not run until the game is done.

Yepp, that's how it went done. 100% sure.

I received CrossCode via a transmission from outer space in 2004 or something.
Took me a while to decode it.

I found out about Crosscode on Indiedb.com, around the same time Hyper Light Drifter's Kickstarter campaign was launched. When I played the old demo, my first impression was: "Wow! It's like Megaman & Zelda have made a baby who is born to be a Pinball pro-player!". The soundtrack gives me Megaman vibes, too. :)

Found it on Chrome Experiments one day, fell in love as soon as I played it.

Someone I follow on Twitter mentioned the game on a Friday evening, meaning I then had the whole weekend to play the game :D

I can only repeat myself: Vsauce 3 bitches!

All I really heard was "html5" and I was hooked.

It must have been a pretty normal day around 2008-2010 at a small convention in Bremen, Germany. I was wandering around the building, doing nothing in particular when I saw Lachsen sitting in a corner with his laptop and a Nintendo DS. I asked what he was working on and he showed me a very early prototype. Back then the game had a different name and HTML5 wasn't even a thing.
